Great thoughts....

No, I didn't write this. It's from a friend a few years ago. I thought it was pretty good though. :)

GREAT RECIPE...
1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you
walk, smile. It is the ultimate anti-depressant..
2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Talk
to God about what is going on in your life. Buy a lock if
you have to.
3. When you wake up in the morning complete the following
statement, 'My purpose is to__________ today. I am
thankful for______________'
4. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat
less food that is manufactured in plants.
5. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat
blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli , almonds &
walnuts.
6. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
7. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy
vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things
you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the
positive present moment.
8. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and
dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.
9. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
10. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
11. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else
does.
12. You are not so important that you have to win every
argument. Agree to disagree.
13. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the
present.
14. Don't compare your life to others. You have no
idea what their journey is all about.
15. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
16. Frame every so-called disaster with these words:
'In five years, will this matter?'
17. Forgive everyone for everything.
18. What other people think of you is none of your
business.
19. GOD heals everything - but you have to ask Him.
20. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
21. Your job won't take care of you when you are
sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch!!!
22. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you
need.
23. Each night before you go to bed complete the
following statements: I am thankful for__________. Today
I accomplished_________.
24. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.
25. When you are feeling down, start listing your many
blessings. You'll be smiling before you know it.

To live for God.

God sends us all things to help us, and our faith, grow. We may be so incredibly confused as to WHY He does certain things or lets things happen, but He wants us to have faith that He will work all things together for good.

There's a cool song called "Beauty From Pain" by Superchick, and the chorus is this:

"After all this has passed, I still will remain.
After I've cried my last, there will be beauty from pain.
Though it won't be today, someday I'll hope again,
and there will be beauty from pain. You will bring beauty from my pain."

Like a wood carver carving away chips of wood to make a masterpiece...God must first chisel away pieces, take things away that we overvalue...all to help us grow and mature.

We must rely on God. When we start putting PEOPLE above Christ, and strive to please others or push people to accept us we lose sight of the one we are supposed to be pleasing. We should live for God, love like God, and pray to God. That is how miracles happen...that is what turns the world upside down.

Work: a blessing.

I was reading today about our economies history. Lots of different things...but the one thing I saw over and over is the way man has slacked off of work over the years.

Where man stops doing, the government happily steps in. This quote is very true,
"The government which governs best, governs least." - Thomas Jefferson

If you look at people from today's lifestyle, how many people actually work...and how many rely on others to provide for them? A year ago, I would have said teens were the biggest majority who do this. They sit and play games, or go shopping...spending their parents money without a thought. They get what they want, when they want it. However. As I look around me and read more, I see it's not just teenagers. Many many people take advantage of the government paying for things, and have simply stopped working.

People don't even try to get another job once they lose it, they think it's time for the government to step in and provide. I see things of this earth ruling man, instead of God's design, man being dominate over the earth, coming into play.

It's really sad to see. Our nation is so strong because it was built by men and women who were willing to work, sweat, and lose everything to build what we have. They died for our freedom, spent their life working to make this nation great.

Like a house, a car...for something stay in good condition you have to continue to take care of it. You cant buy a brand new car and never have it inspected and the small, seemingly insignificant things repaired and taken care of.

Where one steps down, another should step up. We've had many people step down...many people die...how many have taken their place? How many people care enough for our freedom and way of life here to step up and do something when there is a problem?

"Because of Adams sin, man must now work hard to make earth yield her riches, and must save, conserve, and often to without for a time in order to reap future benefits. Work, however, is still a blessing and a responsibility from God; the Fall did not abrogate the command to subdue the earth and exercise dominion over it; it made labor a moral necessity because of man's fallen estate and God's curse upon the earth. In a sense, hard work keeps man from following his sinful tendencies to their natural conclusions."

Work is a blessing.,,one which seems to be slipping away. Without it, man becomes lazy and dependent on things other than God.

Dreams.

"God gives us dreams a size too big so that we can grow in them. "

I think everyone, at one point in their life, has dreams that they think are never going to come true. It's funny how, over the years, our dreams we used to have don't seem so big anymore. We grow every day with God's grace. We learn something new, make mistakes, and have new dreams.

God knows we have much to learn...too much sometimes...but He hopes we will learn through Him. He wants us to go to Him when we are worried. Anything we are struggling with is the right size for God to take over. We must be willing to let Him be God though, and not try to handle things on our own.

A lot of the time I try to figure things out, and fix everything on my own, but that's not my job; it's God's. I have much to learn, goodness does God know how much...but the important thing is that I don't give up on Him and that I keep my trust in HIM. The second I try to go to a back up plan or "help" God will let go and show me just how bad I can mess things up without Him.

He is the greatest of all teachers. We all think we know so much, because we compare ourselves to others. But when we compare ourselves with God, we're but a piece of dirt.

Never stop dreaming...and never stop trusting God with all that you are.

The search for love.

Love. It's something everyone looks for their whole life. Something, or somebody, that will make them feel whole.

People resort to many things to make them feel better, or get the love they need.
Cars
Big houses
The latest and greatest in technology
Any kind of "stuff" that everyone suggests
All the newest styles and brands in clothes
False relationships and "religions" that only end in more heartache

We, humans in general, want to feel loved. We search and search...as though the answer isn't right in front of our face.

Everywhere we look, we see the handiwork of someone amazing.

It's funny, isn't it? God has always been here for us. Just waiting. But we completely ignore Him...unless of course we have some kind of life crisis and go to Him for help...sheesh.

He has given everyone life itself. It may not be amazing, because of sin, but it sure beats being dead. We take everything He blesses us with for granted. A family, friends, "stuff"...and most importantly, His love.

The thing is, He can give judgment and justice to us just as quick as love. It saddens Him when people choose to turn from Him, but that was a choice WE made, and the consequence is hell. Plain and simple.

You can look and look all you want. But without God, you'll never find what you need.

Blessings of the day

Sometimes God gives us small blessings. Sometimes he gives us an entire day of simple, but incredible blessings.

I spent the day with Nathan and most of his family today and each minute was amazing.

Even when life gets busy and slightly stressful, God is still faithful to send us amazing days like today.

"Count your blessings, name them one by one."
